Yamaguchi Area

20 forests with total area of 34,299㎡ (as of April 1, 2022) are located in Yamaguchi area. You will get a sensational view of village forests and find temples, tea gardens and Japanese traditional houses. To get here in Yamaguchi area, change the train to Seibu Railway Sayama line at Nishi-Tokorozawa station and get off at Shimo-Yamaguchi or Seibukyujyo-mae station. Details of forests located in Yamaguchi area are as indicated below.


First Totoro’s forest located in Yamaguchi area acquired in 1990 by Totoro Funds steering committee. Auercus serrata and Japanese cedar grow mainly, and oak trees, prunus sargentii, storax and pinus densiflora also grows around the forest No. 1. All the areas are connected by paths and steps, and it is good place for forest bathing.

Forest No. 3, well-kept greenery, consisting of mainly quercus serrata and Japanese cypress is surrounded by farm land and it creates beautiful scenery.

Forest No.15 was donated by other non-profit organizations in 2011. The forest was well managed because the organization was maintaining the forest perfectly. The forest is leading directly to the forest No.3 and total area of forest is approx. 2,500㎡.

Forest No. 25,the newest land that Totoro Funds acquisitioned in June 2014, is located next the forest No. 6 and 23. It will be ablaze with flowers in the spring and autumnal colors of the leaves are beautiful as well.

The forest no.32 has the widest land that Totoro Fund purchased and the land is a part of the conservation area of which Tokorozawa City declare in 2013.

The wooded land of forest No. 39 is located by the Tokorozawa West Filtration Plant and quercus serrata and quercus myrsinaefolia are mostly distributed. Some farm lands and other wooded areas are in the surrounding area and it forms scenery of comunity-based forest.
